Ostroukhov Volodymyr Vasylyovych was born on the 26th of October 1948 in the town of Mykulyntsi, District Terebovlyany of Ternopol Region. He is known as a historian, philosopher, and lawyer, Doctor of Science in Philosophy, Professor, a member of the Ukrainian Union of Lawyers, and a member of International Union of Lawyers. He was awarded with the International Order “Remarkable Achievements” of the 3-rd Class. He is the author of more than 50 articles starting from articles about state and church affairs, prevention and stopping mechanizms of religious conflicts, comparative analysis, classification and legal treatment of Ukrainian non-traditional religious and mistical worships; and finishing with ideology problems and neofascism politics, philosophical-legal research of motivations of violence and terror, main types of political violence and peculiarity of political terrorism in contemporary society, anti-terror state politics as a factor of social steadiness in Ukraine. Especially, the following fundamental works attract attention: “Philisophical Problems in Researching of Violence and Terror”, “Violence as a Subject of Philosofical Reflexions”, “Violence as Seen Through a Prism of Centuries”, “Political Terror and Terrorism in Ukraine of XIX-XX centuries. Historical Studies” (in composition of authors’ team headed by V.M.Lytvyn), school-books “Non-traditional Religious and Mistical Worships of Ukraine”, “Demonology: Evolution and Contemporary Conditions”, “Modern Technology and Mind Manipulation Methods, Condacting Information Wars and Special Information Actions”, etc. He is a member of special scientific union D 26.001.41 at Kyiv National University named after Taras Shevchenko. Beeing a professor of the Legal Department at Kyiv National Linguistic University, he successfully combines his scientific research work with pedagogical activity, gives course lectures on “State and Legal History of Ukraine”, “State and Legal History of Foreign Countries”, “Philosophy of Law”. In 2005, 1st of November, he became a Real Member of Economic and Management Department of Ukrainian Academy of Sciencies. Hobby: playing chess, football, reading scientific fiction.
